The High Court has once again denied bail to Molly Katanga, the primary suspect in the murder of her husband, Henry Katanga.
On Friday, Justice Rosette Comfort Kania of the Criminal Division ruled against her release, stating that Molly had failed to demonstrate exceptional health conditions that could not be managed at Luzira Prison, where she has been on remand for over a year.

Molly had cited hypertension, vertigo, multiple breast masses, and advanced age as grounds for bail. However, the judge determined that these conditions did not meet the threshold for grave illnesses warranting release.
The court further noted that 10 prosecution witnesses had already testified, with the trial scheduled to resume on March 10.
While Molly remains in custody, her co-accused—including her daughters Martha Nkwanzi and Patricia Kakwanzi, medic Charles Otai, and shamba boy George Amanyire—were previously granted bail. They face charges of destroying evidence and acting as accessories after the fact.
Molly’s legal team argued that she was not a flight risk, emphasizing her permanent residence in Mbuya, near Kampala, and her strong sureties, including a government minister. However, the judge found these assurances insufficient to justify bail.
Molly and her co-accused are on trial for the death of Henry Katanga, who was fatally shot at his Mbuya home on November 2, 2023.
This is the third time Molly has been denied bail, following two previous rejections by Judge Isaac Muwata.
