Supporters attending the African Nations Championship (CHAN) third-place playoff between Sudan and Senegal will not pay for entry, after organisers confirmed all tickets have been purchased for free distribution.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) announced on Thursday, 28 August, that it had secured the full allocation of 28,000 tickets for Saturday’s match at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

“With this arrangement, there will be no tickets on sale to the public. The LOC has purchased the entire stock for the 3rd/4th place playoff,” said Dennis Mugimba, chair of the LOC’s Communications and Signage Sub-Committee.
Fans will be able to access tickets via CAF’s official website using the promo code CHAN3RD, with a maximum of three tickets per person. The tickets, clearly labelled “NOT FOR SALE,” will maintain standard security features and will be scanned at the stadium gates.
Organisers say the initiative is a gesture of appreciation for the strong fan support throughout the competition. Uganda, co-hosting CHAN for the first time under the Pamoja partnership with Kenya and Tanzania, has witnessed record crowds, particularly during Uganda Cranes fixtures. All of the national team’s games sold out, with the lowest attendance recorded at just over 32,000.
Uganda’s campaign ended at the quarter-final stage following defeat to Senegal, but hosting efforts have been praised both locally and internationally. LOC chairperson and First Lady Janet Museveni expressed gratitude to supporters, saying fans had made Uganda proud during the historic tournament.
Saturday’s playoff will not only feature the clash between Sudan and Senegal but also live performances from some of Uganda’s leading artists, including Jose Chameleone, John Blaq, Elijah Kitaka and Vinka. The concert will begin at 5:00 pm, an hour before kick-off, and continue after the medal ceremony.
