According to preliminary investigations, an unknown individual reportedly approached the children, offered them sweets, and handed the older child a 500 shilling coin, allegedly to buy biscuits. When the sibling returned, the younger child had vanished.
At the time of the incident, the parents were inside their home. They quickly notified local leaders and police, who began a search operation involving house-to-house inquiries, patrols, and coordination with neighbouring communities.

Savannah Region Police spokesperson ASP Sam Twiineamazima confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and urged residents to assist law enforcement by sharing any relevant information.
“We are treating this case with the utmost urgency,” he said. “We appeal to the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity that could help us locate the child or identify the suspect.”
The incident has left the community on edge as search efforts continue across the district. Police have promised regular updates and called for calm as investigations proceed.
