The government has announced that the late Gen. Moses Ali will be accorded a state funeral following a directive from President Yoweri Museveni, with final burial arrangements expected to be confirmed after consultations with his family.
The announcement was made on Saturday by the Minister of State for Defence, Huda Oleru, after she met relatives of the former army commander at Nakasero Hospital, where he died.
Oleru said the official funeral programme would be communicated by the Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, after a coordination meeting with the family scheduled for Sunday.

“After consultations with the family, the official programme will be released,” Oleru said.
According to a provisional programme from the family, funeral activities will start on Sunday with a series of Islamic prayers in Kampala.
The first Salat al-Janazah (Islamic funeral prayer) will be held at Naguru Mosque at 10:00 a.m., the mosque where Gen. Ali was a regular worshipper. The body will later be taken to Kibuli Mosque for another prayer service at 2:00 p.m.
The final prayer in Kampala will be held at the Uganda National Mosque in Old Kampala at 4:00 p.m., where it will be led by the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.
Following the prayers, the body will be taken back to Gen. Ali’s residence in Naguru for an overnight vigil.
On Monday, the late general will lie in state at Parliament, allowing leaders and members of the public to pay their respects before the body is moved to Kololo Ceremonial Grounds for public viewing in the afternoon.
The remains will later be transported by air to the West Nile sub-region for the final burial ceremonies.
Gen. Moses Ali will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Adjumani District on Tuesday, July 21.
Gen. Ali died on Saturday at Nakasero Hospital after spending several days in the Intensive Care Unit while receiving treatment for recurring heart complications.
