UPDF Revises Recruitment Schedule for Eastern Region

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has announced changes to its recruitment schedule for several districts in Eastern Uganda, impacting applicants from Mbale, Mbale City, Manafwa, Bududa, Namisindwa, Tororo, Busia, and Butaleja.

In a statement released by Defence Spokesperson Maj Gen Felix Kulayigye, the revisions aim to improve the recruitment process and ensure easier access for candidates across the region.

Under the updated timetable:

  • Recruitment for Mbale District and Mbale City will take place on 7 and 8 August 2025 at the Mbale District Headquarters.
  • Applicants from Manafwa, Namisindwa, and Bududa are expected at the same location on 9 and 10 August.
  • Tororo District will host its recruitment exercise on 11 August at the Tororo District Headquarters.
  • Busia and Butaleja candidates will follow on 12 and 13 August at the same venue.

“This adjustment is intended to ease the recruitment process for candidates across the greater Eastern Uganda region,” said Maj Gen Kulayigye.

The recruitment exercise will be overseen by Team Eleven, led by Colonel Allan Kyangungu, the Deputy Commander of the UPDF’s 3 Infantry Division. He will be assisted by Major Peter Mugisa, who will serve as the Public Information Officer during the recruitment period.

The UPDF continues to encourage eligible candidates to take note of the revised dates and locations to ensure smooth participation.
