The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released the official timetable for the 2025 national examinations.
According to the schedule issued on Monday, the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams will begin on 13 October, followed by the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) on 3 November, and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) on 10 November.

Mandatory candidate briefings will take place ahead of each sitting — 10 October for UCE, 31 October for PLE, and 7 November for UACE.
UNEB said a total of 1,416,468 learners have been registered across the three levels, representing a 7.5% rise compared to 2024. Of these, 51.5% are girls and 48.5% boys.
Executive Director Dan Odongo noted that candidature for PLE has grown by 2.5%, from 797,444 last year to 818,010 in 2025. At UCE, numbers have risen by 12.1% to 432,025, while UACE recorded the largest increase of 14.7%, from 141,996 in 2024 to 166,433 this year.
This year also sees 4,802 learners with special needs registered, up 4.5% from last year. The group includes 3,619 at PLE, 670 at UCE and 513 at UACE.
In terms of funding, UNEB reported that just over half of the candidates — 719,016 — are supported through the government’s Universal Education programmes, while 697,452 are privately sponsored.
