At least six people have died and seven others have been critically injured in a road crash in central Uganda, police have said.
The collision happened at about 04:00 local time on Sunday in Kyakabuga Village, along the Kiboga–Hoima highway in Kyankwanzi District.
According to Wamala regional police spokesperson Lameck Kigozi, a passenger bus travelling from Kampala to Hoima collided head-on with a Fuso truck carrying charcoal, which was heading in the opposite direction.

The impact triggered a fire that engulfed both vehicles.
“Rescue teams from Kyankwanzi and Hoima responded, and a fire engine from Hoima helped to extinguish the blaze,” Mr Kigozi said.
Police said six people died at the scene — two from the bus and four from the truck. Seven others sustained serious injuries and were taken to Kikonda Health Centre for treatment.
The bodies of the victims have been transferred to Hoima Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Efforts were under way to remove the wreckage from the road, Mr Kigozi added.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, which they suspect may have involved reckless driving.
