Full Figure told officers she was assaulted by Masaka District NRM flag bearer Justin Nameere and her husband, who allegedly beat her and then took her phone and UGX 500,000.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed that a robbery case had been filed.
“She recorded a statement at our headquarters and witnesses have been identified,” Onyango said, adding that detectives had visited the scene and launched a search for the suspects. “The matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.”
The attack drew wide attention after video clips circulated online showing Ms. Nakangubi being struck repeatedly in public. Images shared later from the hospital revealed her swollen face, bruised lips, and closed eyes.
Former Soroti Municipality MP Mike Mukula condemned the assault, describing it as an alarming sign of lawlessness.
“Extrajudicial violence, impunity, and gangster behavior must be stopped immediately, and the law must take its course,” he posted.
Full Figure rose to fame as a musician before entering politics, where she has become a divisive figure due to her role as a presidential mobilizer and her outspoken presence on social media.
Some of her allies believe the attack may have been politically motivated, citing her criticism of rivals.
Police confirmed a manhunt is underway for Ms Nameere and her husband.
