Secondary School Student Killed, Dumped in Swamp in Budaka

Authorities in Budaka District have launched an investigation into the brutal murder of a 25-year-old secondary school student whose body was found with multiple deep wounds in a nearby swamp.

The deceased, Doreen Namaja, was a student at High Light Secondary School in Kadama and lived in Kapurukuchu Village, Sekulo Parish, Kademukoli Sub-county.

Bukedi North regional police spokesperson, Mr. Wilfred Kyempasa, confirmed the incident, stating that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.

“We are handling a murder case involving a female student who was violently killed. The motive remains unknown, and we are actively searching for the culprits,” he said.

Namaja’s body was discovered early Thursday morning in Bunyolo A Village, Kamonkoli Sub-county, lying in a pool of blood with severe machete wounds.

The gruesome discovery was made by a local resident, Peter Muhojah, who promptly alerted the area’s LC1 secretary, Mr. Paul Hasahya. “I rushed to the scene and found the lifeless body with multiple deep cuts. I immediately contacted the police,” Hasahya said.

A team of officers led by ASP Mukite C., the officer in charge of operations in Budaka, together with homicide detectives, visited the crime scene. The area was secured, and Namaja’s body was taken to Mbale City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Police have called on members of the public to share any information that could help with the ongoing investigation.
