Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala said the child, identified as Abraham Mpirwe Tumwesigye, was allegedly taken by a man known to the family.
Police have named the suspect as David Muchunguzi, a casual worker who lived in the same area and was employed by the child’s father, Dr Emmanuel Tumwesigye.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect left the family home with the child and travelled to an unknown location. He has not returned since, police said.
Ms Kawala added that the matter was reported immediately to Universal Police Post, where statements were recorded and a formal case of kidnapping opened.
“Investigations commenced right away, and teams are actively working to trace and arrest the suspect,” she said.
Police have appealed to the public to provide any information that could assist in locating the suspect or ensuring the child’s safe return. They urged anyone with relevant details to contact the nearest police station or use official police communication channels.
Authorities say further information will be released as inquiries continue.
