Police have concluded investigations into a high-profile aggravated robbery case involving seven suspects accused of stealing Shs620 million from a customer of Economic Exchange Forex Bureau in Kampala.
The suspects — Mulindwa Sharif, Akid Khalid alias Bombe, Kayiira Muhamed, Tamim Kawaganya, Ongom Ivan, Kasozi Ismael alias Maso and Gizamba Ivan — are jointly charged with aggravated robbery under Sections 266 and 267(2) of the Penal Code Act.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said the inquiry had been completed and that the accused were expected to appear before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
According to investigators, the incident occurred on March 26, 2026, at the forex bureau’s premises along Nkrumah Road in central Kampala.

Police allege that the suspects targeted a businessman and made away with a black backpack containing Shs620 million in cash.
Owoyesigyire said the group was allegedly armed during the robbery.
“The accused are further alleged to have been in possession of a dangerous weapon, namely a panga, during the commission of the offence,” he said.
Authorities say the case file has now been forwarded for prosecution as the suspects prepare to face court.
Under Uganda’s laws, aggravated robbery is a capital offence that carries severe penalties upon conviction.
