Kamuli District LC5 Chairperson, Charles Maxwell Mugude, has died in a tragic road accident in Kayunga while en route to collect nomination forms from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission.
According to sources, the incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025, as Mugude was traveling to take part in the party’s nomination process ahead of the upcoming NRM primaries. He was seeking re-election.

The fatal accident happened along the Kayunga–Galiraya road, where Mugude’s vehicle reportedly collided head-on with a sugarcane truck.
He was reportedly driving the car at the time of the crash, and it remains unclear whether anyone else was in the vehicle.
A committed member of the ruling NRM, Mugude had been serving as Kamuli District Chairperson since 2021.
More information is expected as authorities investigate the incident.
