In the Kampala metropolitan area, death is always on the prowl, and for strange reasons. Police in the city have kicked off investigations into the circumstances under which an identified man was shot dead after being suspected of stealing a kettle.
The Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said the suspected thief was shot dead by a security guard in Kamuli Zone C, Kireka, in Wakiso district.

“The security guard suspected the man of having stolen a kettle from a residence in Kamuli Zone C on March 31, 2025, at around 3:23 a.m. and shot him dead,” Onyango said.
Police also apprehended the security guard to aid in the investigation, while the deceased’s body has been taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem examination.
In another related incident, police have reported that an unidentified man suspected to be a phone snatcher was killed by a mob at around midnight on Sunday in Nsambya West.
He said the deceased’s dead body was found in a pool of blood in Nsambya West on March 31, 2025, at around 12:30 am.
