Retired Gen Moses Ali, the former Member of Parliament for Adjumani West, has been buried at his ancestral home in Abiricaku Village, Adjumani District, following his death four days earlier.
The burial took place at about 17:25 local time and was attended by thousands of mourners, including senior government officials, political leaders from West Nile, religious and cultural leaders, members of his family and residents of Adjumani.
Gen Ali was remembered for his decades of public service and his contribution to Uganda, particularly in the areas of security, peacebuilding, development and agriculture.
Vice-President Jessica Alupo, speaking before the burial, described the former legislator as a mentor who helped nurture several leaders and set an example through his conduct in public office.

Earlier in the day, Janazah prayers were held at Gen Ali’s home, where relatives, friends and members of the community gathered to pay their final respects.
The prayers were followed by a special sitting of the Adjumani District Council, where local leaders reflected on his contribution to the district and the wider West Nile region.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa urged leaders to learn from Gen Ali’s life, highlighting his humility despite the senior positions he held during his long career.
Mr Tayebwa also pointed to the former general’s involvement in efforts to improve public service delivery in different parts of the country.
State Minister for Veteran Affairs Huda Oleru Abason, who represents Aringa East in Parliament, said Gen Ali’s contribution extended beyond politics, citing his support for communities in several sectors.
Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba also paid tribute to the former general in a condolence message delivered at the funeral.
“General Moses Ali was an exemplary leader whose performance, commitment, zeal and resilience earned him the admiration of both his peers and subordinates,” the message said.
After Gen Ali’s body was lowered into the grave, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces accorded him a gun salute as part of the final military honours at the burial site.
Gen Ali was also remembered for his role in peace efforts involving the Uganda National Rescue Front (UNRF), including the process that saw the group reach an agreement with the Ugandan government.
For many mourners in West Nile, his legacy extended beyond his military and political career, with speakers highlighting his contribution to reconciliation, community development and national service.
