Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi postponed the bail hearing to May 5 and ordered that Kapere be held in remand until then.

State prosecutor Ivan Kyazze informed the court that investigations had concluded and requested a date for the case hearing.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on April 21, 2025, around 10:00 a.m. in Kigowa, Ntinda. The victim, Raphael Magezi—a pork roaster—reportedly visited Kapere to collect a pair of shoes he had left for repair. Upon finding them still unattended to, an argument broke out.

During the confrontation, Magezi allegedly snatched Kapere’s cap, provoking a violent reaction. Kapere, using a blade typically used for shoe repair, allegedly slashed Magezi, causing serious injuries.

Magezi collapsed and bled heavily at the scene. A boda boda rider nearby apprehended Kapere and handed him over to police at Ntinda Station. Magezi was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital and underwent emergency surgery.

Kapere, who was represented in court and had sureties, did not speak to the media as he was escorted out under tight security.
