NRM Registrar and Administrator Arrested in Kamuli for Announcing Fake Election Results

Police in Kamuli District have arrested two key officials—Gambuga Godfrey, the NRM district registrar, and Michael Magala, an NRM administrator—over allegations of announcing falsified results in the Buzaaya County NRM primary elections.

According to preliminary tallies gathered a day earlier, incumbent MP Martin Muzaale had secured 17,556 votes, while his rival, Bamusibule Kintu Paul, trailed with just 2,000. However, in a surprising turn, Bamusibule was announced the winner.

Muzaale, disputing the outcome, accused the arrested officials of being manipulated by certain political actors within the government and parliament. He asserted his overwhelming victory—claiming a 95% lead—and vowed to petition the NRM Electoral Commission in Kampala to overturn what he called an electoral injustice.

The controversy in Buzaaya is part of a broader pattern of political tension in Kamuli District, where fierce rivalry between camps aligned with Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among and First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga has led to incidents of violence and intimidation. As the dust settles, most NRM flag bearers associated with Kadaga’s faction are reportedly emerging victorious.
