Makerere University has released the results of the Bachelor of Laws Pre-Entry Examination for the 2025/2026 academic year, highlighting exceptional performances from some of Uganda’s leading secondary schools.
Uganda Martyrs Secondary School Namugongo, St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende, Seeta High School, and St. Mary’s College Kisubi emerged among the top performers, showcasing both strong individual scores and overall school success.

According to the Academic Registrar’s office, Uganda Martyrs Namugongo stood out with several candidates achieving top marks. One student scored 74, another 71, and many others fell within the 60–65 range. A significant number surpassed the 50% pass mark, reflecting the school’s dedication to academic excellence and preparation.
St. Mary’s Kitende also registered notable results. One student attained 73 marks, another 72, with many others scoring in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Seeta High School produced one of the highest scores in the exam—75 marks—alongside several other students scoring 60 and above, demonstrating the school’s strength in academic preparation.
St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK), a long-standing academic leader, had several students scoring in the 60s, with one reaching 70, confirming its reputation as a feeder school for Makerere’s law program.
Other top schools also had commendable showings. Namilyango College had multiple students scoring in the 60s and above. Gayaza High School, Uganda’s oldest girls’ school, recorded several passes over 50%, including some in the high 60s.
King’s College Budo also posted competitive results with students scoring in the 50s and 60s, while Mount St. Mary’s College Namagunga had multiple candidates pass comfortably with scores ranging between the 50s and 60s.
Additional schools with strong performances included Ntare School, with several boys exceeding the 50% pass rate; Kibuli Secondary School, where students earned marks in the mid-60s; and St. Joseph’s Girls Nsambya, whose students posted consistent results.
The pre-entry exam, held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, is a rigorous assessment required for admission into Makerere’s Bachelor of Laws program. Candidates scoring 50% and above have passed and will be considered by the University Admissions Committee. These candidates are also eligible to apply under the private sponsorship scheme. Final selections will be subject to official vetting and approval by the Admissions Committee.
