According to initial police findings, the two women allegedly clashed after Ikoliet went to collect firewood she had earlier cut and left to dry near the boundary separating their land. Ikiror is said to have insisted the firewood belonged to her, sparking a fight that turned violent.

Residents apprehended Ikiror shortly after the incident and handed her over to officers at Kabarwa Police Station. A neighbour, Justine Mwali, is understood to have filed the official complaint.

South Kyoga regional police spokesperson, ASP Stephen Mukombe, confirmed that investigations are under way. He said the body of the deceased had been taken to Bukedea Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination.

“We are continuing with inquiries and call on members of the public to share any information that may assist the investigation,” he said.

Police have appealed to the community to support the ongoing inquiry by reporting anything that could help establish what happened.
