Speaking at its inauguration ceremony, US Ambassador to Uganda, William W. Popp described the center as a significant milestone in academic cooperation between the two countries.
“The establishment of this center is yet another example of the longstanding partnership between the United States and Makerere University, a leading educational institution in East Africa,” Ambassador Popp said.
He also commended Dr Edward Kaweesi and the Makerere University Department of Political Science for their efforts in making the center a reality.
The center will allegedly support academic research, seminars, and conferences, fostering engagement with American history, institutions, and policies to promote deeper understanding between Ugandans and Americans.
Additionally, the center is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and help navigate the complexities of the regional and global landscape.
