A security guard has been arraigned before court for raping a woman for over four hours.
Richard Mwesigye, a 23-year-old man, is alleged to have forcibly attained carnal knowledge of a female casual worker with whom he works at a shop in Yunia Plaza Arua Park, without her consent.
Prosecution alleges that on August 28, 2023, at around 1 am, Mwesigye ordered the woman who was doing her work outside the shop to enter the store and pick up more carpets for cleaning. The court was told that no sooner had she entered than Mwesigye rushed in and closed the door behind him.

… that when the victim asked why he had closed the door, the accused responded, saying he was in love with her. Shortly, the accused changed his tone and picked a piece of wood, threatening to harm the complainant if she tried to resist. The complainant threatened to raise an alarm, but the accused warned her not to do so. He then grabbed her and put her on a piece of plywood, which he had prepared to have sex from… The accused then removed his trousers and the complainant’s knickers and forcefully had unprotected violent sexual intercourse with her, which lasted for about four hours.”
Relying on medical forms 3A, which indicated multiple healed tears around the complaint’s genitalia, and 24A, showing the accused’s sound mind, the magistrate committed Mwesigye to the High Court for trial at the next convenient session.
