Prosecutors said the crime took place on January 4, 2025, in Bajere South Village, Labongo Akwang Sub-county, Kitgum District. Kajeini, a neighbor to the victim, committed the offense and was arrested the same day. He was initially remanded to Kitgum Government Prison and had first denied the allegations but later admitted to the crime by changing his plea to guilty.
Magistrate Nashiero noted that Kajeini’s admission of guilt helped conserve court resources and time. While passing sentence, he emphasized that the punishment should serve both justice and deterrence. Taking into account the nearly four months Kajeini had already spent in custody, the magistrate ruled that he would serve an additional 14 months and 2 days.
The magistrate also warned Kajeini to stay away from underage girls upon his release and reminded him of the gravity of such offenses in Uganda, urging him to reform after completing his sentence.
