Five Killed, 21 Injured in Massive Nine-Vehicle Crash on Kampala-Bombo Road

Five people have been confirmed dead and 21 others injured in a tragic multi-vehicle crash along the Kampala-Bombo road.

The accident happened on Wednesday around 9 PM in Mayanja Valley, Kagoma. According to Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura, preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of a Fuso Super Grande truck (registration UBK 769A), traveling from Kampala to Bombo, lost control while descending Mayanja Valley, colliding with multiple vehicles and a motorcycle.

“Four occupants from different vehicles and a motorcycle rider died instantly, while 21 taxi passengers sustained injuries,” Kananura stated.

The crash involved nine motor vehicles and one motorcycle.

The injured victims were rushed to Mulago Hospital for medical attention, while the wreckage from the crash was towed to Kawempe Police Station for inspection as investigations continue.

Authorities have urged motorists to drive cautiously, particularly on slopes and valleys, to prevent such tragedies.
