Two senior officials from the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) were arrested by the Special Forces Command (SFC) in Mubende, just hours before President Museveni’s scheduled commissioning of major USMID road projects in the region.
The detainees include Pafuladito Kyeyune, the NUP chairperson for Mubende, and Damusen Kakooza, a councillor representing Kalonga Sub-county.

Kyeyune was reportedly driving a vehicle bearing images of NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, when he was intercepted by authorities.
Eyewitnesses say he had parked near the Shell Supermarket on Kakumiro Road when traffic officers instructed him to step out of his vehicle. Soon after, armed SFC operatives allegedly forced him out of the car.
Kakooza, who was recording the incident, was also arrested during the altercation.
Both individuals were taken to Mubende Central Police Station. While the circumstances of their detention remain unclear, the arrests come amid heightened security measures ahead of President Museveni’s visit.
This is a developing story. Further details will be provided as they emerge.
