Bobi Wine Finally Earns Law Degree After 7 Years

After seven years of dedication, National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from Cavendish University. His academic journey, however, was fraught with challenges, including what he describes as deliberate attempts to hinder his success.

Bobi Wine, the pop star turned politician, expressed his joy at this achievement, despite the roadblocks he faced. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he shared how detractors, allegedly linked to the regime, tried to prevent him from graduating. He claims that the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) launched an extensive investigation, scrutinizing every aspect of his academic records—from his admission documents to tuition payments.

“It was only after a very detailed and intense investigation that I was cleared to graduate today,” Bobi Wine said. “I don’t know if any other Ugandan student has been subjected to this before.”

The Nile Post has reached out to the NCHE for comment on these claims, though they have yet to be independently verified.

Bobi Wine also took to social media to thank those who supported him throughout his journey, including his sister Sylvia Kyagulanyi, NUP Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya, and his wife Barbie. He emphasized that this achievement is a shared victory and reiterated his commitment to using his education to fight for justice and equality in Uganda.

“This achievement is not just mine, but it belongs to everyone who has believed in me and stood by me through thick and thin. Education is a powerful tool for change, and I am committed to using my knowledge to further the cause of justice and equality in our nation,” he said.

Supporters of Bobi Wine celebrated his graduation, seeing it as a strategic step in his ongoing battle for legal reforms and human rights in Uganda. His academic pursuit, despite the obstacles, highlights his resilience and determination to bring about positive change in his country.

As Bobi Wine embarks on this new chapter, many are eager to see how he will leverage his legal expertise in his political activism. His graduation is not just a personal triumph but also a powerful reminder of the role education plays in the fight for democracy and justice.
