Police in western Uganda have detained a man accused of killing his wife during an argument over a 100,000-shilling loan.
The suspect, identified as Andrew Ndyayambegye from Kanoga-Kitooma village in Matale sub-county, allegedly attacked 47-year-old Beatrace Kaitesi after she reportedly took out a loan from a village savings group in his name without his approval.

Police say Ndyayambegye struck his wife several times on the head and face with a hand hoe, inflicting serious injuries. She was first taken to a local clinic and later referred to Mubende Hospital for specialized care but died on the way.
Local council chairperson Mathias Sunday told the BBC that villagers launched a search for the suspect after the attack and found him hiding in nearby bushes on Monday. He was handed over to the authorities.
Albertine Region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza confirmed the arrest, saying Ndyayambegye is being held at Kibaale Central Police Station on murder charges. He is expected to appear in court once investigations are concluded.
