The bus was traveling from Kampala to Soroti, using the Katosi route, when the incident happened.
Initial findings suggest that a front tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control, which led the bus to overturn on its right side.
The driver died instantly at the scene, while four passengers suffered injuries of differing degrees.
According to Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura, officers arrived swiftly at the accident site and rushed the injured to Kawolo Hospital and Nkonkonjeru Health Centre for medical care.
The deceased’s body was transported to the mortuary at Kawolo Hospital for a postmortem.
“The vehicle involved in the crash has been moved to Ngongwe Police Station as investigations are underway,” Kananura stated.
Following the accident, Kananura emphasized the importance of road safety.
“We strongly encourage drivers to carry out routine maintenance checks on their vehicles and adhere to traffic laws to avoid similar tragedies,” he added.
