A police officer stationed at Mpondwe Police Station in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese District, has died after being hit by a falling tree during a heavy rainstorm on Sunday afternoon.
The officer, whose identity had not been disclosed by the time of reporting, was inside the station’s depot when a tree, believed to have been loosened by strong winds, crashed onto the building.

The storm, which struck parts of western Uganda on June 8, caused significant destruction, uprooting trees and disrupting daily activities.
Police described the death as a tragic result of extreme weather conditions that swept through the region unexpectedly.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances, although the Uganda Police Force had not yet released an official statement.
