According to RDC Kidega, both officers were visibly intoxicated and unfit to perform their duties. Onega was reportedly barefoot and not in uniform, while Okello appeared unsteady and was also without shoes.
Kidega criticized their behavior, emphasizing that police officers must uphold discipline and professionalism at all times, as such misconduct damages public confidence in law enforcement.
“This behavior is unacceptable and undermines public trust in the police,” Kidega stated.
The two officers are currently held at Patongo Central Police Station and are facing charges of drunkenness while on duty and neglect of duty. The case has been filed under reference number CRB 29/03/04/2025.
