65-Year-Old Businesswoman Tragically Killed in Bukedea District

In Komuriakeri Village, Kongunga Subcounty, Bukedea District, police are investigating a murder case that has left the residents in fear.

Lukia Amuge, a 65-year-old businesswoman, was found murdered early on January 6, 2025, and her case was registered under Bukedea Central Police Station (CPS) CRB Bukedea 026/2025.

The Regional Police Commander for East Kyoga, Damali Nacuha, noted in her report that the tragic discovery was made by Ann Lilian Amoding, a neighbour of the deceased.

Amoding grew concerned when Lukia, who usually woke up early to prepare food for her restaurant, remained unusually silent that morning. At around 6:30 a.m., Amoding decided to check on her.

When repeated knocks at the door went unanswered, Amoding cautiously opened the door, only to find Lukia lying in a pool of blood on a papyrus mat.

The sight of the deceased, with a deep cut on her neck and another on her right cheek, shocked the community. Amoding raised an alarm, drawing other residents from the trading center to the scene.

The matter was promptly reported to the LC1 chairperson, 66-year-old Sam Echedet, who alerted police authorities at Kachumbala Police Station.

Investigators from Bukedea CPS immediately arrived at the scene. They meticulously examined and documented the area, recovering a suspected murder weapon—a knife with a light blue handle bearing traces of blood.

The police also deployed a canine unit at the scene to trace the suspects. The scent trail led investigators approximately one kilometer away before it was lost. Despite this setback, authorities remain determined to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The search for the suspects is ongoing, and we are confident that with the help of the community, we will bring the culprits to  book.” Damali emphasised

The murder has left the residents of Komuriakeri Village reeling with fear. Lukia Amuge was described as a hardworking and peaceful woman who operated a small restaurant to support herself.

“She was a kind and dedicated individual. Her sudden and violent death is unimaginable,” said one resident.
