A 14-year-old boy, Simon Okodi, died on Sunday evening after falling from a moving truck along the Kibale–Kamuge road in Kibale Town Council, Pallisa District.
According to acting Bukedi North regional police spokesperson Wilfred Kyapasa, Okodi and a friend had left home to visit a barber in Kibale Trading Centre. Along the way, they reportedly jumped onto a slow-moving Isuzu Forward truck (registration UBE 451Y) without the driver’s knowledge.

As the truck neared Kibale Town, one boy safely jumped off at a road hump. However, Simon lost his balance while trying to disembark and was allegedly run over by the truck.
A traffic police team led by Fred Mutono from Pallisa Police Station visited the scene, made a sketch plan, and took the body to Pallisa General Hospital for a post-mortem.
The truck driver, Mike Okodi, was arrested and remains in custody. The vehicle has been impounded and is awaiting inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles.
