Speaking from the party headquarters on Kyadondo Road in Kampala, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong announced that the party has successfully registered 20.7 million members—equivalent to approximately 40% of Uganda’s population.
“We now have a credible, digitized register of members, which will be used for our internal elections and mobilization efforts,” Todwong stated. He further noted that out of the total members, 19.8 million are eligible voters.
The party’s demographic breakdown includes 10.8 million women, 9.8 million men, 7.4 million youths, and 1.7 million elderly members. Additionally, 458,000 members are aged below 18, as registration is open from age 16 and above.

Ambassador James William Kinobe, Deputy Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, outlined the roadmap’s key events and timelines. The roadmap covers internal elections for positions ranging from village-level leaders to presidential flag bearers.
“The first step was drafting the party’s strategic roadmap and setting milestones toward the 2026 elections. This phase is now complete,” said Kinobe.
