Aloysius Mukasa, the Rubaga South MP who had allegedly gone to Busega Market to investigate complaints from vendors about allegedly unfair stall allocations, narrowly escaped being attacked by an angry mob during his visit to the newly opened market.
It is said emotions rose and tension escalated as Mukasa engaged vendors over their grievances when some traders accused others of acquiring multiple stalls in violation of the rules set by the market administration.

The peaceful engagement quickly spiraled, with some individuals threatening Mukasa and demanding that he leave the premises.
Police officers intervened, dispersing the agitated crowd and escorting Mukasa to safety after the situation grew increasingly volatile.
“I was only responding to concerns raised by the vendors, who feel they have been treated unfairly,” the MP narrated to reporters afterward. “It’s unfortunate that the situation turned chaotic, but my intention remains to ensure fairness and accountability.”
The newly launched modern mark, Busega Market, was intended to provide vendors with improved trading spaces but is presently mired in controversy since its opening. Sections of vendors claim the allocation process unfairly favored a few traders, leaving the majority without space.
Local authorities have yet to comment on the allegations of unfair allocation.
However, police assured the public of enhanced security at the market to prevent further interruptions.
On his part, MP Mukasa vowed to continue advocating for fairness and transparency for his constituents.
