The victim, identified as Alice Natukunda, 32, was attacked at her residence in Kisiita East Cell, Kakumiro District, on Saturday night.
According to preliminary investigations, a group of masked men armed with machetes stormed the home at around 9:00pm and demanded money from the businesswoman.

Police say the attackers allegedly assaulted Natukunda after she refused to hand over the cash.
“The assailants reportedly demanded money from the businesswoman after gaining access to the house. When she declined to hand over the cash, the attackers allegedly hacked her several times on the head, face and neck, killing her instantly,” police said.
The suspects are also reported to have threatened two other people who were inside the house, including Natukunda’s husband, Justus Tugumisirize, warning them not to raise an alarm.
After the attack, the gang allegedly fled with a bag containing Shs17.5 million before disappearing from the area.
Tugumisirize later reported the incident to police, triggering an investigation into the killing and robbery.
Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza confirmed the attack and said detectives from the Flying Squad had been deployed to track down those responsible.
He said the victim’s body was taken to Kakumiro Health Centre IV mortuary for a post-mortem examination before being released to relatives for burial.
Police say investigations into the murder and robbery are ongoing as efforts continue to identify and arrest the suspects.
