Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura explained that officers discovered additional chairs had been squeezed into the corridor of the vehicle, with passengers seated beyond the permitted capacity. He warned that such practices put lives at serious risk.
Mr Kananura praised the vigilance of the passenger who raised the alarm and encouraged the public to continue reporting unsafe practices, stressing that road safety is a shared duty.
Police have repeated their appeal to travellers to speak out against reckless driving and other violations that threaten lives on Uganda’s roads.
