Police in Wakiso District are investigating a fire that killed three young girls in Mpala Cell, Katabi Town Council, during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The victims were identified as 12-year-old Ellah Namiru, 5-year-old Amani Namulema, and 3-year-old Namujju Tamale. According to initial findings, the children’s mother, Julie Nalubwama, was not at home at the time, while their father, Lenon Kavuma, was away working in Jinja.

The fire reportedly started at about 01:00 local time. Local leaders alerted police, and Fire and Rescue Services responded, eventually putting out the blaze.
Two of the children’s bodies were discovered outside the house, while the third was recovered inside, burned beyond recognition.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that detectives have opened a case to establish what triggered the fire. Officers have secured the scene, interviewed witnesses, and transferred the bodies to the City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
