Witnesses told police the dispute quickly escalated into a physical altercation, during which Nuwabiire allegedly produced a knife and stabbed Luyima in the chest. Luyima died instantly at the scene. The suspect is said to have accused Luyima of being romantically involved with his girlfriend.

Residents, led by community member Mathias Ddumba, condemned the killing, citing excessive alcohol consumption and the proliferation of unregulated bars operating into the early morning hours. Others pointed to drug abuse among young people as a factor behind rising violence.

Police officers from Nyendo Division attended the scene, examined the premises, and transferred the body to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem.

Greater Masaka Region Police Spokesperson ASP Twaha Kasirye confirmed that both Nuwabiire and Adongo have been arrested as investigations continue.
