Her arrival at Entebbe International Airport was met with enthusiasm from supporters, who joined her in a peaceful procession toward Kampala. However, the event was abruptly disrupted when police intervened and detained her.
While details of the arrest remain uncertain, eyewitnesses reported no signs of unrest prior to the security operation. Attempts to obtain an official statement from the police were still underway at the time of reporting.
The arrest adds to a growing pattern of political confrontations as public interest in Malende’s return had been mounting.
