Following the incident, Astronomer placed Byron on leave and launched an internal investigation. Days later, the company confirmed that Byron had stepped down, and his resignation was accepted by the board.

In a public statement, Astronomer emphasized its commitment to ethical leadership and organizational values, noting that “our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”

The New York-based tech firm, which specializes in data infrastructure, is now in the process of selecting a new CEO. In the interim, its chief product officer will assume the leadership role.

The event has sparked widespread discussion about workplace relationships, professional conduct, and leadership accountability in the digital age.
