Lubega, a SIM card registration agent, reportedly went into hiding after the money went missing.
Police reports say Kengozi took the girl, who attends Holy Family Nursery and Primary School and is the daughter of Sarah Nabosa, early in the morning while she was on her way to school.
At Kibaale Central Police Station, where she is being held, Kengozi admitted to taking the child, explaining that she had left Shs 5 million at home before heading to work. Returning home, she found the money missing and suspected her husband had taken it. She said she hoped the abduction would compel him to return.
Sarah Nabosa, the child’s mother, said she was shocked when her daughter disappeared on her way to school.
Kibaale District Police Commander Moses Kitamirike confirmed Kengozi’s arrest, stating that investigations into the matter were ongoing.
