The former Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development has been sentenced to prison for six months.

Justice Patience Tumusiime Rubagumya of the Commercial Division of the High Court has sentenced former State Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr Isaac Musumba, to Luzira prison for failure to settle his outstanding debt.

Musumba, who has repeatedly failed to honour his debt payments, has gone through turbulent times. His troubles started when creditor Charles Wakwale filed a commercial suit against him.

Eluding arrest warrants and being abroad did not save him on Wednesday, when he finally appeared in court. Despite offering $10 million in cash and a 21-day extension to clear the balance, Mr. Dick Kisira Wakwale’s lawyer interjected, citing past evasion attempts of the accused to flee the country and also evading court.

Musumba’s request was rejected and sentenced to prison.
