Led by Division Police Commander SP Tai Ramadhan, officers intercepted the trio after they failed to provide proper identification. Their vehicle, a Toyota with registration number UBK 573D, was also impounded.
A search of the vehicle yielded a sharp knife and multiple stamps, raising further suspicion.
Rwenzori East police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime confirmed that the trio is facing charges of impersonation. He urged any members of the public who may have been targeted or harmed by the suspects to report to the police.
This incident follows a similar case in January, where two men in Kasese were caught impersonating security officers and allegedly extorting money from residents by claiming to have influence over government appointments.
