Four Arrested as Police Investigate Mysterious Death of Senior Officer

Four individuals have been arrested to aid police in the ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Julius Ahimbisibwe, whose body was discovered in a septic tank at his home in Nakitokolo, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.

Ahimbisibwe, a former Jinja Road Divisional Police Commander, was found with a rope around his neck—prompting early suspicions of suicide. However, police say they are exploring all possible scenarios.

According to sources on condition of anonymity, those taken into custody include the deceased’s wife, a shamba boy, a neighbor, and the area defense secretary. “These were the first people on the scene when the incident occurred,” the source noted.

Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke stated on Monday that the investigation is still in its early stages and that no conclusions have been made. “We’re awaiting the postmortem results to determine the exact cause of death. A rope around the neck alone doesn’t confirm suicide,” he explained.

Rusoke emphasized that police are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the truth.

SSP Ahimbisibwe was reportedly under both disciplinary and criminal scrutiny over a past incident that led to his suspension. “He had been subjected to legal and internal disciplinary actions and had at some point been remanded. More details will be shared as the investigation progresses,” Rusoke said.

His body was transferred to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination as inquiries continue.
