Suspended Police Commander Found Dead Mysteriously

Police in Kampala have begun investigations into the mysterious death of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Julius Ahimbisibwe. Ahimbisibwe, who previously served as the Jinja Road Division Police Commander, had been suspended last year following allegations of domestic violence that reportedly culminated in the shooting of his ex-wife.

On Monday morning, his body was discovered in a septic tank at his residence in Nakitokolo, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District. A rope was found around his neck, raising questions about the circumstances leading to his death.

Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the incident, emphasizing that the cause of death remains unclear and that a postmortem examination will be crucial in determining what truly happened.

“Finding a rope around someone’s neck doesn’t conclusively prove it was suicide. We’re awaiting the postmortem results to clarify the exact cause of death,” Rusoke told the Nile Post.

He further stated that Ahimbisibwe had been facing both disciplinary and criminal charges related to last year’s domestic violence case and, at one point, had been remanded.

The deceased’s body has been transported to Mulago City Mortuary for examination as investigations continue.
