Police in Mbale City have launched an investigation into the suspected murder of a 24-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a guesthouse along Soroti Highway, Namakwekwe ward, Northern Division, on Sunday evening.

Preliminary reports indicate that the woman checked into the lodge earlier that morning with an unidentified man. However, around 1 p.m., staff found her unresponsive in the room and immediately notified the authorities.
Police retrieved the body and transferred it to Mbale City mortuary as investigations continue. Efforts are underway to track down the man who accompanied her.
Officials have yet to disclose the victim’s identity, pending notification of her family.
Meanwhile, concerns have emerged over how the crime scene was handled. Witnesses claim the guesthouse remained operational, with no proper measures taken to secure potential evidence.
“There was no clear crime scene management. Guests were moving in and out freely as if nothing had happened,” a concerned resident remarked.
