Brigade Commander Col. David Byaruhanga Dies

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have announced the passing of Col. David Byaruhanga, the respected Commander of the 409 Brigade stationed at Bondo Barracks in Arua District.

According to Capt. David Kamya, the 4th Division Public Relations Officer, Col. Byaruhanga succumbed to illness while receiving treatment at Nakasero Hospital.

Mourning his loss, Capt. Kamya praised the late commander’s service, stating, “He has died a hero, and we shall remember him.”

His sudden passing has deeply impacted the military and the wider community, who are grieving the loss of a devoted and courageous leader.

“Col. Byaruhanga’s legacy will be defined by his unwavering dedication to his country and the principles of the UPDF. His bravery, selflessness, and leadership will continue to inspire both his fellow soldiers and the nation at large,” Capt. Kamya added.
