Seeta High School Teacher Murdered, Five Suspects in Custody

Police in Mukono District, Central Uganda, have arrested five individuals in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old teacher from Seeta High School.

Ivan Oloya was reportedly killed on March 22, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m. in Bajjo Cell, Nyenje Ward, Goma Division.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, Oloya had left Seeta High School’s Mbalala Campus and was heading home to Bajjo when he was attacked near the gate of Code High School, where his wife, Abbey Mercy, works as a teacher. A police canine unit was deployed to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Paul Kasumba, 21; Simon Mabale, 23; Tom Kibuuka, 38; Simon Lukodda, 18; and a 16-year-old casual worker.

Oloya’s body has been taken to Mulago Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem as detectives continue investigations to determine the motive behind the attack and search for additional suspects.

Seeta High School principal Devis Kafumbe stated that Oloya had joined the school about a year ago. Preparations for his burial are underway, with plans to lay him to rest in eastern Uganda.

His death follows another tragedy at Seeta High School, where a 16-year-old student was found dead in a dormitory on February 21.
