A total of 264 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) candidates from Luwero district, whose results were withheld by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), are scheduled to appear before the board this week.
Last month, URN highlighted the uncertainty surrounding these students, as their peers who passed the 2024 PLE began secondary school on February 10, 2025, following the official release of results on January 23, 2025.

Luwero district registered 16,162 candidates in total. Among them, 1,085 (6.8%) failed, while 288 (1.8%) did not sit for the exams. UNEB withheld the results of 264 candidates over suspected examination malpractice.
The affected candidates come from the following schools:
- Rapha Primary School – 100 candidates
- Zuhura Education Centre Nkondo – 48 candidates
- Nalongo Islamic Primary School – 54 candidates
- Bombo Parents’ Primary School – 62 candidates
In a letter dated January 23, 2025, addressed to the Luwero District Chief Administrative Officer, UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo confirmed that the results were withheld pending further investigations. He stated that the candidates must appear before the Examinations Security Committee (ESC) for a hearing, in line with the principles of natural justice.
Over the weekend, reports indicated that UNEB had officially summoned the affected candidates for hearings starting March 3, 2025. Julius Alituwa, a parent at Rapha Primary School, confirmed that preparations were underway.
This comes after UNEB recently canceled the results of 182 candidates in Busia Municipality due to exam malpractice. The Luwero community now awaits the outcome of this critical process.
