An 18-minute camera footage showed a yet-to-be-identified assailant wearing a distinctive red cap and armed with a hoe attacking Masaba at around 3am.

“The assailant ambushed and hit the deceased on the head three times while he was sleeping in the service bay, resulting in fatal injuries.”

Busoga North region police spokesperson, Mr. Michael Kasadha, confirmed the murder, narrating that Masaba reported for night duty shift duty at Stabex fuel station with his co-worker, Daniel Ojara.

“Masaba was last seen alive by his colleague at around 2am, before his body was two hours later found lying in a pool of blood at the service bay with his SMG rifle on the body with three rounds of ammunition,” Mr. Kasadha added.

His body was taken to Bumanya Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem as investigations continue.

Mr. Kasadha said the attack raises concerns about poor security measures at the fuel station and questioned the negligence by the second security guard, who took long to discover that his colleague had been killed.
