In Bushenyi, a woman took her own life; she couldn’t stand sharing a man. “It is alleged by Ssenge that his girlfriend Tunyumize arrived at his place on January 24 during evening hours. She spent a night there,” Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime began.
A 24-year-old slot machine attendant, Janet Tunyumize, passed away almost 2 hours after ingesting poison at her lover, Constable William Ssenge’s residence.
“On January 25 during morning hours, the two got some misunderstandings as the deceased suspected the boyfriend to be in love with other girls,” he added.

Police records suggest that the Tunyumize moved out of the house and went to Bushenyi Town after the two had disagreed.
“After a while, she returned and entered the room, leaving her boyfriend outside. Shortly, Ssenge followed her only to find the deceased unconscious,” Tumusiime noted.
Police observed that Tunyumize puked a very smelly pink vomitus, appearing to be a result of suicide by poisoning.
“The policeman immediately rushed her to Bushenyi Medical Center (BMC) for medical attention, and that’s where she died,” police emphasized.
By press time on Sunday, detectives said they had recovered vomitus in a pink bucket from Senge’s residence for forensic analysis as part of investigations into the incident.
“Inquiries were opened and statements recorded from witnesses while the body was conveyed to KIU Teaching Hospital Ishaka for postmortem,” Tumusiime told journalists in a brief statement.
“At the hospital, the deceased’s body was found lying on the bed facing up and was dressed in a blue pair of trousers and a cream blouse. The deceased had revealed to the doctor that she had taken poison but didn’t give reasons why,” he added.
However, police emphasized that “there were no observable external injuries seen on the body.”
“The body had already been cleaned by the medical officers while giving treatment,” Tumusiime mentioned.
