Bees Cause Chaos at Abim Magistrate’s Court, Forcing Panic and Temporary Inmate Escape

Drama and escape ensued after a swarm of bees disrupted proceedings at the interim magistrate’s court on Tuesday, causing chaos and widespread panic.

The unexpected invasion saw court staff, prison and police officers, litigants, and remandees fleeing for safety, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango.

“The swarm caused panic, and in the ensuing commotion, 12 remandees and seven suspects temporarily escaped,” Onyango said in a statement.

The incident occurred during a court session when the bees attacked everyone present.

Efforts to restore order began immediately after the bees dispersed, and authorities immediately launched a manhunt for the escapees.

Onyango confirmed that security has been heightened to prevent further incidents.
